This is a simple bag in checker pattern made using Tunisian stitch. I made two type. One with a flat flap and the other a 'v' pointed flap. Both using 2 different colour nylon thread of 1.5 mm and a hook of of 3 mm. You can customized your own checker bag so long you understand the basic of making one box. Like puzzle, you connect those boxes to form a bag of your choice.
Each small box you will need 11 stitches as the foundation chain. Once you have decide how many boxes you need, use multiple of 11 and plus 1 stitch for your foundation chain. The smaller bag as per the video, I did 4 boxes on the first row so I did 4 times 11 which is 44 stitches plus 1 stitch, so all in, I did 45 stitches on my foundation chain.
Insert hook into the 2nd chain from hook, yarn over and pull a loop through leaving it on the hook and continue to do the same on the next 5 chain, in which all in, you will get 7 chain on your hook but we put through 6 chain. Now yarn over, pull a loop through the next 2 stitches on the hook, 2 by 2 until the end.
Now with one stitch on the hook, insert the hook through the vertical strand, yarn over and pull a loop through and leave it on the hook. Continue in the same manner until the last vertical strand, in which you had put through 5 vertical strand and 6 chain on your hook. Put through one more on the following chain that is on the foundation chain. Now you will have 7 chain on your hook. Yarn over, pull a loop through the next 2 stitches, 2 by 2 until you reach the end.
Do as the above manner on the next row. All in you are going to do 5 rows to make a box. After row 5, do slip stitch on the vertical strand, one by one, in which you will do 5 slip stitch and the 6th slip stitch is on the chain on the foundation chain.
Continue to do the same manner until there is no more chain left on the foundation chain. Cut the thread. The starting point is also our ending point. Now we change colour. Start from the corner of the 1st box that we did. This time the 6th stitch is always the connecting stitch to the other box.
It sounds complicated in writing but as you watch the tutorial video, it is very easy to do. Hope you like this checker pattern.
