Crochet Poinsettia Flower

This flower is lovely and quite easy to crochet, even for beginners. It is wireless and the leaf and flower petal has almost the same crochet pattern.

The tutorial video :

For the smaller leaf, start with a chain 18. The bigger leaf, start with a chain 21. The smaller flower petal, start with a chain 12 and the bigger petal, with a chain 16. The middle yellow part, make a knot, slip stitch to the middle of the petal and chain 5 and slip stitch to the last chain (the chain that is nearest to the earlier slip stitch), cut yarn and pull the 2 tail to the back and tie a knot.

For the leaf and the flower, start with 3 single crochet follow by half double crochet all the way till you have 3 stitches left at the end. Do single crochet in the next 2 and 4 single crochet in the last stitch. Now work upwards, do single crochet in the next 2, and half double crochet until you have 2 more stitches left in the end. Turn your work, slip stitch in the next 2, half double crochet down until you have 3 stitches left.  Do single crochet in the next 2 and 4 single crochet in the last (which is always the one in the middle).

Repeat the same and work upwards again. Every time you turn the work and do 2 slip stitch, you created a corner. Each leaf you will has 6 corners and each flower petal has only 4 corners, on each side.

For the flower, make 8 big petals and 5 small petals (with the middle part) For the leaf, it is up to you how many leaves you prefer. Once complete, either you sew them together or you can glue them together.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
