Crochet Messy Bun Beanie - Christmas Edition

The Messy Bun Beanie is very easy to make. You can get one done in just a couple of hours, even for beginners. This would make a lovely Christmas gift.

The tutorial video :

I used cotton yarn and a 4 mm hook. I also added some eye lashes yarn to make it fluffy at the edge.

1) Chain 10, single crochet (sc) in the next 9 stitches starting from the 2nd stitch from the hook.

2) Chain 1, turn the work and do sc on the back loop in the next 9 stitches. Repeat the same for about 50 rows. Bring it together and measure it on the head and see if it fits. It is a bit stretchable, so stretch it when measuring on the head. If it does not fit, do few more rows.

3) Joint it with a slip stich.

4) Turn work 90 degree and work our way up with puff stitch.

5) Do single crochet all around and add about 5 to 6 increases (2 sc in one stitch). In the end, make sure the total number of stitches is in even number. End with a slip stitch.

6) Chain 1, make a puff stitch ( pull up 4 yarn and put thru all 5 yarn on the hook and then chain 1 to make 1 puff). Skip the next stitch and make a puff stitch in the next. So skip one stitch in between the puff stitch. At the end of the row, do a slip stitch to the first.

7) The next row, chain 1, do a puff in the space area between puffs. Repeat and do all in 7 rows of puff stitch.

8) Row 8th, chain 1, do 3 puff stitches (with a skip one in between puffs) and do a decrease ( pull up 3 yarn on the 1st chain space and pull up 3 yarn on the next chain space and put thru all 7 yarn on the hook and chain 1 to make a decrease ). Repeat until end of the row.

9) Row 9th, chain 1, do 2 puffs and a decrease, repeat until end of the row.

10) Last row, do the same decrease.

11) Do sc all around and you can stop here or do one more row of reverse sc.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
