Crochet Orchid

This orchid is made using lace yarn and a 1.75 mm hook. There are 4 parts of it. The back petal, which is the smaller petal, I made it in a 3 in 1 (they are link together as 1). Then made 2 bigger petals. A middle part of the flower and some leaves.

The tutorial video :

Smaller Petal

1) Make a magic ring, chain 15, from the 2nd chain from hook, do 14 single crochet (sc). Then sc into ring. This makes 1 petal. Now do 2 more (repeat the above). All in, there should be 3 petal in this magic ring.

2) Work our way up a petal. Single crochet (sc) in the next, half double crochet (hdc) in the next 2, double crochet (dc) in the next 2, treble crochet (tc) in the next 4, dc in the next 2, hdc in the next 2, sc in the next 1. Do 1 sc at the top and then we work our way down in the same manner (sc next 1, hdc next 2, dc next 2, tc next 4, dc next 2, hdc next 2, sc next 1).

3) Sc all around with a wire attached. Refer to video for guidance.

Bigger Petal - make 2

1) Chain 15, on the 2nd chain from hook, work our way down with - (sc next 1, hdc next 2, dc next 3, tc next 5, dc next 1, hdc next 1, 3 sc in the same last stitch). Now work our way down the other side the reverse way - (hdc next 1, dc next 1, tc next 5, dc next 3, hdc next 2, sc next 1, 3 sc in the same last stitch).

2) Now work our way up the opposite side with - (hdc next 3, 2 dc in the same stitch (inc) in the next 2, dc next 1, dc inc next 2, dc next 1, dc inc next 2, hdc next 2, sc next 1 and make 2 sc at the tip. Then work our way down the opposite site with - (sc next 1, hdc next 2, dc inc next 2, dc next 1, dc inc next 2, dc next 1, dc inc next 2, hdc next 3) 3 sc in the last stitch.

3) Sc all around bringing the wire along.

The Middle Part

1) I used white yarn, make a magic ring and 6 sc into ring and joint with a slip stitch.

2) Chain 1, sc all around. Then chain 11. Do sc from the 2nd stitch on till the end bringing along a wire. End with a slip stitch and cut yarn.

3) Change color, make sure this color is different from the petal. On the 4th stitch from the circle, chain 5. In the same stitch do 4 tc together. (refer to video for better understanding). Yarn over all 5 and chain 5 and slip stitch into the same stitch.

4) Now work our way down (away from the round white ring) with - (sc next 2, hdc next 1,dc next 1,tc next 1, dc next 1, 3 dc in the last stitch which is the turning part. Now work our way down with - (dc next 1, tc next 1, dc next 1, hdc next 1, sc next 2)

5) Once reach the opposite of the mini petal, do the chain 5, 4 tc together in the same stitch and chain 5 and slip stitch in the same stitch. Cut the yarn.

 Flower Bud - Make 3

1) Chain 7, from the 2nd stitch from hook do - (sc next 2, hdc next 2, dc next 1, 5dc in the last stitch). Now work our way down with the same - (dc next 1, hdc next 2, sc next 2) and sc at the tip.

2) Work our way up again with - (sc next 1, hdc next 4, hdc inc next 1, dc inc next 1) and 3 dc in the last / tip. Now work our way down with - (dc inc next 1, hdc inc next 1, hdc next 4, sc next 1).

3) Sc all around with wire.

Leaf

1) Chain 41, from the 2nd chain from hook do - (sc next 2, hdc next 3, dc next 5, tc next 20, dc next 7, hdc next 2). Do 3 hdc on the last stitch. Now work our way down the opposite side with - (hdc next 2, dc next 7, tc next 20, dc next 5, hdc next 3, sc next 2) 3 sc in the last stitch.

2) Now work our way up again the opposite side with - (sc next 2, hdc next 8, {dc next 4, dc inc}*4, hdc next 6, sc next 4) 3 sc in the last stitch. Then work our way down the opposite side with - (sc next 4, hdc next 6, {dc next 4, dc inc}*4, hdc next 8, sc next 2)

3) Sc all around with wire.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
