Crochet Tapestry Minions Top

This is my first attempt to crochet a tapestry top. Since my favourite is Minion, so I made one with it. I used a 4 mm hook and cotton yarn. For the Minion part, it has 4 colors, this part would be a bit think. The top part I used Suzette stitch.

The tutorial video :

First, make a foundation chain. The number of chain depend on your chest size and maybe your tummy size, if any. I am making it in a round like amigurumi. One set of Minions requires 38 stitches. One set of Minions has 3 different Minions. Or you can choose any other tapestry pattern that you like and check the number of stitches you need to make one pattern.

Once I had the number of stitches, in my case was, 152 stitches which gives me 4 sets of the Minion pattern. I turn my work and make single crochet on the bump side till the last stitch before I joint it in a round. Refer to video for better understanding.

This is how the 1 set of Minions look like. The spacing between the Minions is up to you. So have all these consideration figured out before you decide how many foundation chain you actually need.

After the 1st round of single crochet and joint the foundation chain into a round, I did 1 row of Suzette stitch, that is a single crochet and a double crochet in the same stitch. Skip the next stitch. Do another Suzette stitch and skip a stitch. Repeat until the end.

After 1 row of Suzette stitch, I start my tapestry crochet. Follow the diagram above as to when to change color and to what color. The whole tapestry crochet is in single crochet. After the last row of tapestry crochet, do one row of single crochet. After that do Suzette stitch again up to the length you require.

I made 2 strap for the shoulder, also in Suzette stitch and sew it on the top. The width is also up to you. You can have it wider or narrower.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
