Tunisian Stitch Checker Top

This is a top with Tunisian stitch at the bottom part and shell / fan stitch on the top part. I used 3 different color yarn to come to this pattern. The Tunisian stitch part, I used purple on one row, multicolor yarn on the next and blue on the following row. I used a 4 mm hook with 5 ply cotton yarn for the whole top.

The tutorial video :

I start by making the Tunisian stitch in a round. The foundation chain has to be in a multiple of 11. Measure it against your body to see if it fit. You have to make 1 row of Tunisian stitch before you measure it on your body.

Each small box you will need 11 stitches as the foundation chain. Once you have decide how many boxes you need, use multiple of 11 and plus 1 stitch for your foundation chain.

Insert hook into the 2nd chain from hook, yarn over and pull a loop through leaving it on the hook and continue to do the same on the next 5 chain, in which all in, you will get 7 chain on your hook but we put through 6 chain. Now yarn over, pull a loop through the next 2 stitches on the hook, 2 by 2 until the end.

Now with one stitch on the hook,  insert the hook through the vertical strand, yarn over and pull a loop through and leave it on the hook. Continue in the same manner until the last vertical strand, in which you had put through 5 vertical strand and 6 chain on your hook. Put through one more on the following chain that is on the foundation chain. Now you will have 7 chain on your hook. Yarn over, pull a loop through the next 2 stitches, 2 by 2 until you reach the end.

Do as the above manner on the next row. All in you are going to do 5 rows to make a box. After row 5, do slip stitch on the vertical strand, one by one, in which you will do 5 slip stitch and the 6th slip stitch is on the chain on the foundation chain.

Continue to do the same manner until there is no more chain left on the foundation chain. Cut the thread. The starting point is also our ending point. Now we change colour. Start from the corner of the 1st box that we did. This time the 6th stitch is always the connecting stitch to the other box.

Once you have come to the length that you want, do one row of double crochet all around. Next do shell / fan stitch. Do 3 double crochet in the same stitch and skip 3 before the next shell / fan. Do one row of it.

Divide the top into four. leaving 3 to 4 shell stitch on each armpit area. The front and the back part, divide into 2. So all in I have to make 4 straps and joint them at the top. As for the straps, reduce the stitches according to your liking. It is 1 row of shell stitch follow by one row of double crochet.

For better understanding, refer to the tutorial video.

It sounds complicated in writing but as you watch the tutorial video, it is very easy to do. Hope you like this pattern. Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
