This doll is 7 inches tall. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. If you use a bigger hook, the doll will be slightly taller and bigger. I used safety eye and some fiber fillings. The clothes and shoes are not removable.
The tutorial video :
Legs (start with the shoe color then change back to skin color)
1) Make a magic ring and make 5 single crochet (sc) into the ring [total 5]
2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc) [total 10]
3) (Sc, inc) - 5 times [total 15]
4) Sc all around, only on the back loop [total 15]
5) Sc next 3, do a 2 together, (dec) in the next 5, sc next 2 [total 10]
6) Sc all around [total 10]
7) - 14) Change to skin color and do sc all around [total 10]
Stuff the legs, make sure there is enough stuffing to shape the shoe and toes part nicely.
15) Now is the time to joint the legs together with a sc all around. Check to make sure both shoes are facing the same way. [total 20]
16) - 17) sc all around [total 20]
18) Half double crochet (hdc) all around [total 20]
19) This row work only on the 3rd loop of the hdc (refer to tutorial video). Sc next 8, dec, sc next 8, dec. [total 18]
20) -22) sc all around [total 18]
23) (Sc next 4, dec) - 3 times [total 15]
24) (Sc next 3, dec) - 3 times [total 12]
Do the blouse and the skirt first before continuing with the head. The written pattern is below.
Head
25) (Sc next 2, inc next 4) - 2 times [total 20]
26) (Sc, inc) - 10 times [total 30]
27) (Sc next 4, inc) - 6 times [total 36]
28) - 29) Sc all around [total 36]
30) (Sc next 4, dec) - 6 times [total 30]
31) - 34) Sc all around [total 30]
Time to add safety eyes, sew eyelashes and eye brow. Sew the nose, mouth and ears too before stuffing.
The eyes is placed between row 30 to 31 and about 5 stitches apart.
35) (Sc next 3, dec) - 6 times [total 24]
36) (Sc next 2, dec) - 6 times [total 18]
37) (Sc, dec) - 6 times [total 12]
38) Dec 6 times [total 6]
Cut yarn and leave a tail to sew shut the hole by sewing on the front loop and pull.
Ears
Attached to the right spot on the head with a slip stitch. Chain 2, and skip 2 and attached to the head with a slip stitch. Chain 2 and make 2 hdc into the chain space that we had just created. Make a sc and slip stitch to the spot where we started. Pull the 2 tail of the yarn into the head, tie a knot and leave it inside the head. Refer to tutorial video for better understanding.
Arms
1) Make a magic ring and make 6 sc into ring [total 6]
2) (sc next 2, inc) - 2 times [total 8]
3) Sc all around [total 8]
4) Sc next 2, dec) - 2 times [total 6]
5) -10) Sc all around [total 6]
closed the opening with 2 sc across. (refer to tutorial video). Cut yarn and leave a long tail for sewing
Blouse
Chain 20 and joint it into a circle with a slip stitch. Chain 1 and do dc all. Do 2 rows of it, Chain 1, do sc all around. End it and cut yarn. No need to leave a long tail. No sewing required. Just place it on the body before making the head. I sew the 2 arms onto the body attaching the blouse as well, before I continue with the head part. (Refer to tutorial video)
Skirt
1) I used a 5 ply cotton yarn on the doll but as for the skirt and blouse I used a 3 ply yarn. It is more fine so I start by making 2 sc into the front loop of the hdc round that is on the body earlier to make the skirt. If you are using a 5 ply cotton yarn for the skirt, you can start by making 1 sc into each front loop of the hdc. (Refer to tutorial video).
2) Chain 2, ( double crochet (dc) next 4, dc inc) - repeat until the end of the row.
3) Dc all around
4) (Sc next 2, sc inc) - 5 times, sc next 2
If you prefer the skirt to be longer, you can do a few more rows of sc all around.
Wig
1) Start by making a magic ring and do 6 sc into the ring [total 6]
2) Inc all around [total 12]
3) (Sc, inc) - 6 times [total 18]
4) (Inc, sc next 2) - 6 times [total 24]
5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 6 times [total 30]
6) Sc next 2, inc, (sc next 4, inc) - 5 times, sc next 2 [total 36]
7) Sc all around [total 36]
Fold the wig into 2. Slip stitch on the whole stretch of middle line on the wig. (Refer to tutorial video). Once you reach the end of the line, start making strands of hair on the edge of the wig.
Chain 30, start from the 2nd chain from the hook, sc next 29 stitches. Slip stitch onto the next stitch on the wig. Slip stitch on the next and make another strand of hair. Continue until you reach the middle part of the wig where you did slip stitch on the middle part of the wig. Continue to make hair on the back loop of the slip stitch part. Once you reach the end of the line, work you way down by working on the front loop of that same slip stitch that is on the middle of the wig. Continue on the edge of the whole wig and you are done. Cut yarn and leave a long tail to sew the wig onto the head.
This way of making the hair is so that I could tie it in 2 pony tail. If you only want to tie it in one pony tail, you cab forget about the slip stitch on the middle part of the wig. (Refer to the tutorial video for better understanding).
