Ribbed Bag / Shell Bag

Some called it ribbed bag some, shell bag. You can customize one. I used multi color t-shirt yarn and a 6 mm hook. Besides t-shirt yarn, you can use nylon yarn or ribbon yarn or maybe cotton yarn too. This time round I used a plastic bag handle instead.

The tutorial video :

1) I started with a chain 24. You can start with a lesser or more chain to make the bag bigger or smaller. Next step, do single crochet (sc) until the end of the row in which I have 23 stitches.  [total 23]

2) Chain (ch) 1, turn the work. From now on work only on the back loop. Sc in the next 10 stitches. 2 sc in the same stitch (inc) in the next 3. Sc in the next 10.      [total 26]

3) Ch 1, turn, sc in the next 12, inc next 3, sc in the next 11.     [total 29]

4) Ch 1, turn, sc next 13, inc next 3, sc next 13.     [total 32]

5) Ch1, turn, sc next 14, inc next 3, sc next 15.     [total 35]

6) Ch 1, turn, sc next 16, inc next 3, sc next 16     [total 38]

7] Ch 1, turn, sc next 18, inc next 3, sc next 17     [total 41]

8) Ch 1, turn, sc next 19, inc next 3, sc next 19     [total 44]

9) Ch 1, turn, sc next 20, inc next 3, sc next 21     [total 47]

10) Ch 1, turn sc next 22, inc next 3, sc next 22     [total 50]

11) Ch 1, turn and sc next 50     [total 50]    Repeat until you reach the width / length that you want.

Once you have reach the width / length that you want, will start to do decease (dec), that is do 2 together.

1) Ch 1, turn sc next 22, dec next 3, sc next 22     [total 47]

2) Ch 1, turn, sc next 20, dec next 3, sc next 21     [total 44]

3) Ch 1, turn, sc next 19, dec next 3, sc next 19     [total 41]

4) Ch 1, turn, sc next 18, dec next 3, sc next 17     [total 38]

5) Ch 1, turn, sc next 16, dec next 3, sc next 16     [total 35]

6) Ch1, turn, sc next 14, dec next 3, sc next 15.     [total 32]

7) Ch 1, turn, sc next 13, dec next 3, sc next 13.     [total 29]

8) Ch 1, turn, sc next 12, dec next 3, sc next 11.     [total 26]

9) Ch 1, turn, sc next 10, dec next 3, sc next 10     [total 23]

10) Ch 1, turn, sc until the end of the row     [total 23]

The number of increase row and the number of decrease row have to be the same. If you choose to do only 5 rows of increase, make sure you do 5 rows of decrease. Now the top part of the bag, I do sc all around. Next row I do slip stitch (ss) only on the back loop. Every 3 ss, skip a stitch. Repeat until the end. The next 5 rows, do ss on the back loop, all around. The last row do sc on the back loop all around and add the bag strap too. In my case, is a plastic bag handle that look like bamboo.

Hope you like this bag pattern as much as I do. Do subscribe to my Youtube channel and follow me on Facebook , Tiktok and Instagram . There will be more crochet pattern in the future. So stay tuned.

Sponge Bob Square Bag

This is a tapestry bag. A simple square bag make using cotton yarn. In order to make the Sponge Bob look realistic,  I follow the color of a poster I found online. I can't remember the name of the blue or the yellow etc. Just use my eyes to see which blue matches the blue in the character.  The tutorial video :  The poster that I got from the internet look like this :  Abbreviation : G = green   W = white   R = red   M = Maroon   Bk = black   B = blue   P = pink   Y = yellow The blue that use on the side and the back panel is of a different blue from the above.  I start with a row of the other blue (a lighter blue). This blue row is a chain of 49. The whole bag is just single crochet. The 2nd row onwards is the Sponge Bob color, as in when to change to which color. The pattern below, my 1) is actually the 2nd row and the color I mention is from right to left, like how we crochet. The num...
