Houndstooth Stitch Short Jacket

This is a short jacket with houndstooth stitch pattern. There are many combination of colors that makes an outstanding houndstooth pattern. This time round I chose orange and blue.

The tutorial video :

To make houndstooth stitch, make a foundation chain in a multiple of 2 plus 1. I start by making the back panel, work from bottom up. There is no joining at the shoulder part. I continue to build the pattern from the back panel to the front panel.

The length of the foundation chain is the length of your width. How wide you want the coat to be. Make the foundation chain in multiple of 2. Then chain 1 and do a single crochet on the second stitch from hook. Do a double crochet on the next stitch. Follow by a single crochet in the next and a double crochet in the next. Repeat until the end of the row. Always start with a single crochet and end with a double crochet for every row.

Once at the end of the row, change color. I did not bring along the 1st color yarn when I do the 2nd row with the 2nd color. I cut the yarn and weave it into the coat. After change color, chain 1, turn the work and do a single crochet on top of the previous double crochet. Do a double crochet in the next stitch, which is the top of the previous single crochet. Repeat until the end.

Once you have the length that you want, now continue to build the front panel. Leaving the middle few rows for the neck. Refer to tutorial video for better understanding. Once complete, Do single crochet on the font part. Joint the sides but leave some space for the sleeves.

As for the sleeve, I reduce the number of stitches every row. Do less 1 set of single crochet and double crochet on each side of every row. Refer to video.

Sew the sleeves and the sides of the jacket and turn it inside out and you have a jacket. Hope you like this pattern.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
