A "Dragon" Angpau Sling Bag

This is a simple puff stitch angpau sling bag. You can use it as a handphone bag too. This time round, I added a dragon head in front, since it will be a dragon year, in the coming Chinese New Year. I used a 8 ply cotton yarn and a 5 mm hook.

The tutorial video :

Bag Pattern

1) I start by making a foundation chain of 17. Chain 1 and go to the 2nd stitch from the hook and do single crochet (sc). Do 1 sc in each stitch, repeat until the end of the row. All in 15 sc. In the last stitch, do 3 sc in the same stitch. By now you would have turn your work. Now do sc in each stitch until the end of the row, in which you will have 15 stitches. In the last stitch, do 3 sc in that stitch. All in you should have 36 stitches.

2) Row 2 you will start the puff stitch. Start with a chain 2, do a double crochet (dc) in the next. and another dc in the following stitch. Yarn over and go to the stitch at the bottom of that 1st dc and do a puff stitch. (refer to video for better understanding). Then skip one, do a dc in the next 2 stitches. After the 2 dc, do a puff stitch. Repeat all around. You should have 6 puff on each side of the bag. End it with a slip stich to the 1st puff stitch.

3) Row 3 do sc all around.

4) Row 4 do puff stitch again like in row 2.

Repeat in this manner until you come to the length that you want. As for my case, I sew a Dragon Head in front of the bag. The Dragon Head is in the earlier post and video. This is optional. Sew a bag strap of your choice and you will have a lovely sling bag. Hope you find this pattern interesting. You can check out my bag strap pattern in my earlier posts.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
