'Dragon Dance' Head

 During Chinese Festival, there will be Dragon Dance. This is the head of the 'Dragon Dance'. This pattern is just the head of the dragon.


The tutorial video : 



Big Horn

1) Start with a magic circle. Do 6 single crochet (sc) into the ring      [total 6]

2) Sc all around     [total 6]

3) (Sc, do 2 sc into the same stitch (inc)) - 3X     [total 9]

4) - 5) Sc all around     [total 9]


Small Horn

1) Start with a magic circle. Do 6 sc into ring     [total 6]

2) - 3) Sc all around     [total 6]


Comb / Mane

1) Chain 15. Do sc and half double crochet (hdc) in the same stitch, 2 double crochet (dc) in the next stitch, hdc and sc in the next stitch, slip stitch (ss) in the next, sc and hdc in the next, hdc and sc in the next, ss in the next, 2 sc in the next, 2 sc in the next, ss in the next, ss in the last stitch.


Nose

1) Chain 6, sc next 4, 3 sc in the same stitch, sc next 3, 2 sc in the 1st stitch, ss to the 1st   [total 12]

2)  2 sc in the same stitch (inc), sc in the next 3, sc inc next 3, sc in the next 3, sc inc next 2  [total 18]

3) Hdc in the next, dc next 2, hdc in the next, sc next 2, dec next 2, sc next 2, hdc in the next, dc next 2, hdc in the next. Leave a long tail for sewing.

4) Sew 2 black lines in front of nose.


Lower Jaw

Chain 10, turn. On the 2nd stitch on, sc next 3, hdc next 3, sc next 3. Leave a long tail for sewing and cut yarn.


Side Gill

1) Chain 22. 3rd chain from hook do dc inc, treble crochet (tc) inc in the next, double tc inc (yarn over 3 time before doing the double tc) in the next, tc inc in the next, dc inc in the next, tc inc in the next, dc inc in the next, (hdc inc in the next, dc inc in the next) - do 2 sets. (hdc inc in the next, sc inc in the next) - do 2 sets, ss in the next 2. 


Flame (make in a brighter color than the head) on the comb / mane and the side gill

Use a different color, start crochet on top of the comb / mane and side gill. Do sc next 2, sc with a picot (chain 2 and sc in the 1st). Repeat this sc next 2 and sc with a picot until the end of the row.


Head

1)Start with a magic circle, Do 8 sc into circle.     [total 8]

2) Inc all around     [total 16]

3) (Sc, inc) - 8X     [total 24]

4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 32]

5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X     [total 40]

6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X      [total 48]

7) - 14) Sc all around     [total 48]

15) (Sc next 2, dec, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 40]

16) (Sc next 3, dec) - 8X     [total 32]

17) (Sc, dec, sc) - 8X     [total 24]

18) (Sc, dec) - 8X     [total 16]

19) Dec all around     [total 8]

I normally will sew all the other parts on the head at row 17, before I add stuffing and seal the head. Refer to video for assembling.

Mooncake

  Crochet moon cake. You will need cotton yarn, a 3 mm hook and some stuffing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake 1) Magic ring, 8 single crochet (sc) into ring 2) Work only on the front loop : [ 1 slip stitch (sl st), chain (ch) 6 ] 8 times. Get 8 petals. 3) Work only on the back loop : [ 1 sc, ch2 ] all around and sl st to the join the 1st stitch. 4) Ch 1, [ch2, 3 puff st to the ch2 space, ch 2, 1 sc to the next] 8 times. Sl st to join to the 1st st. 5) Ch 3, 1 sc on top of the sc in the previous row (skip all the puff st). Sl st to join to the 1st st. 6) Ch 1, [ 5 double crochet (dc) in the ch3 space, 1 sc to the top of the sc in previous row) 8 times. 7) Sc all around the back loop. Tiny Top Hat

 This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi.
