Purple Dragon, Crochet

This particular post is about the body of the dragon. The head is in the earlier post. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook.

The tutorial video :

Body

1) Start by making the legs. Start with a magic circle. Do 5 single crochet (sc) into ring     [total 5]

2) Do 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 10]

3) (Sc, inc) - 5X     [total 15]

4) Sc only on the back loop     [total 15]

5) Sc next 3, do a 2together (dec) in the next 5, sc in the next 2      [total 10]

6) Sc all around     [total 10]

7) - 9) Sc all around (in blue color)     [total 10]

Cut yarn and make another leg. Use a separate yarn, chain 10 and sew it to the edge of the blue part on the leg to make it look like the jeans folded part at the bottom of the pants. Use a black yarn to sew few lines on the toes to make it look like claws.

Now joint the 2 legs (still in blue color), make sure the legs face the right way then make a slip stitch to the next leg to joint them. Refer to tutorial video.

10) (Sc next 3, inc) - 5X     [total 25]

11) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 5X     [total 30]

12) (Sc next 5, inc) - 5X     [total 35]

13) (Sc next 3, inc, sc next 3) - 5X     [total 40]

14) - 16) Now change back to the dragon color. Sc all around     [total 40]

17) (Sc next 3, dec, sc next 3) - 5X     [total 35]

18) (Sc next 5, dec) - 5X     [total 30]

19) (Sc next 2, dec, sc next 2) - 5X     [total 25]

20) (Sc next 3, dec) - 5X     [total 20]

21) (Sc next 2, dec) - 5X     [total 15]

22) (Sc, dec) - 5X     [total 10]

To make the strap on the pants, chain 20 and sew it to the pants.

Arms

1) Start with a magic ring. Do 4 sc into ring     [total 4]

2)Inc all around     [total 8]

3) - 5) Sc all around     [total 8]

6) Sc next 6, dec     [total 7]

7) Sc all around     [total 7]

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
