Easter Chicken

 This time round, instead of bunny, I am making Easter Chicken. The big easter egg is in the earlier post. The assembling of the hair, beak, eyes and all, I did before I add stuffing in the head. Please refer to the tutorial video for guidance.

Chicken Head (I sew the hair, beak and add eyes when I am at row 20, before I add stuffing)

1) Start with a magic circle / ring. Do 6 single crochet (sc) into the ring      [total 6]

2) Do 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 12]

3) (Sc, inc) - 6X     [total 18]

4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 6X     [total 24]

5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 6X     [total 30]

6) Sc all around     [total 30]

7) Sc next 2, inc (sc next 4, inc) - 5X, sc next 2     [total 36]

8) (Sc next 5, inc) - 6X     [total 42]

9) - 12) Sc all around     [total 42]

13) Sc next 10, inc next 2, sc next 19, inc next 2, sc next 9     [total 46]

14) - 16) Sc all around     [total 46]

17) Sc next 11, do 2together (dec) next 2, sc next 19, dec next 2, sc next 8     [total 42]

18) (Sc next 5, dec) - 6X     [total 36]

19) Sc next 2, dec (sc next 4, dec) - 5X, sc next 2     [total 30]

20) (Sc next 3, dec) - 6X     [total 24]

21) Sc, dec, (sc next 2, dec) - 5X, sc     [total 18]

22) Dec all around      [total 9]

Leave a bit of a tail, sew on all the front loop and pull to seal the hole.  When assembling the eye, I made a stitch on the 2 eyes, pull, to make the 2 eyes sunk in. (Refer to the tutorial video)


Chicken Body

1) Start with a magic circle / ring. Do 6 sc into the ring.      [total 6]

2) Inc - 6X     [total 12]

3) (Sc, inc) - 6X     [total 18]

4) Sc, inc, (sc next 2, inc) - 5X, sc     [total 24]

5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 6X     [total 30]

6) Sc next 2, inc, (sc next 4, inc) - 5X, sc next 2     [total 36]

7) (Sc next 5, inc) - 6X    [total 42]

8) - 13) Sc all around     [total 42]

14) (Sc next 5, dec) - 6X     [total 36]

15) Sc next 2, dec, (sc next 4, dec) - 5X, sc next 2     [total 30]

16) Sc all around     [total 30]

17) (Sc next 3, dec) - 6X     [total 24]

18) Sc all around     [total 24]

19) (Sc next 2, dec) - 6X     [total 18]

20) Sc all around     [total 18]

21) (Sc, dec) - 6X     [total 12]

22) Dec - 6X     [total 6]

Leave a bit of a tail before cutting. Sew on all the front loop and pull to seal the hole. 


Hair

Chain 11, go to the 2nd stitch from hook and do a slip stitch. and do sc until the end of the chain. Sew it on the top of the head. 


Top Beak

Chain 6, start from the 2nd stitch from hook, do sc, half double crochet (hdc) in the next, double crochet (dc) in the next, chain 2 and do a picot, do hdc in the next and sc in the last stitch. 


Lower Beak

Chain 9, start from the 2nd stitch from the hook, do slip stitch, sc in the next, hdc in the next 2, sc in the next and slip stitch to the last stitch.


When sew the top and bottom beak to the head, the space between the beaks, I sew some pink lines on the head. (refer to tutorial video).


 Wing (make 2)

1) Chain 11. Start from the 2nd stitch from the hook, do slip stitch, sc next 8, and so a slip stitch in the last stitch on the chain. 

2) Chain 1, turn the work. Do slip stitch, sc in the next 2, hdc in the next 4, sc in the next 2 and slip stitch in the last stitch.

3) Chain 1, Do slip stitch, sc in the next, hdc in the next, dc in the next, treble crochet in the next 2, dc in the next, hdc in the next sc in the next and slip stitch in the last stitch.

4) Sc all around the wing. Leave a long tail for sewing before cutting.

Mooncake

  Crochet moon cake. You will need cotton yarn, a 3 mm hook and some stuffing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake 1) Magic ring, 8 single crochet (sc) into ring 2) Work only on the front loop : [ 1 slip stitch (sl st), chain (ch) 6 ] 8 times. Get 8 petals. 3) Work only on the back loop : [ 1 sc, ch2 ] all around and sl st to the join the 1st stitch. 4) Ch 1, [ch2, 3 puff st to the ch2 space, ch 2, 1 sc to the next] 8 times. Sl st to join to the 1st st. 5) Ch 3, 1 sc on top of the sc in the previous row (skip all the puff st). Sponge Bob Square Bag

 This is a tapestry bag. A simple square bag make using cotton yarn. In order to make the Sponge Bob look realistic,  I follow the color of a poster I found online. I can't remember the name of the blue or the yellow etc. Just use my eyes to see which blue matches the blue in the character.  The tutorial video :  The poster that I got from the internet look like this :  Abbreviation : G = green   W = white   R = red   M = Maroon   Bk = black   B = blue   P = pink   Y = yellow The blue that use on the side and the back panel is of a different blue from the above.  I start with a row of the other blue (a lighter blue). This blue row is a chain of 49. The whole bag is just single crochet. The 2nd row onwards is the Sponge Bob color, as in when to change to which color.
