Sun Hat With A Bow

This is a simple Sun Hat with a bow. I used a multicolor 8 ply cotton yarn and a 5 mm hook.

The tutorial video :

Hat Pattern

1) Start with a magic circle / ring. Do 6 single crochet (sc) into the ring      [total 6]

2) Do 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 12]

3) (Sc, inc) - 6X     [total 18]

4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 6X     [total 24]

5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 6X     [total 30]

6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 6X     [total 36]

7) (Sc next 3, inc, sc next 2) - 6X     [total 42]

8) (Sc next 6, inc) - 6X     [total 48]

9) (Sc next 4, inc, sc next 3) - 6X     [total 54]

10) (Sc next 8, inc) - 6X     [total 60]

11) (Sc next 5, inc, sc next 4) - 6X     [total 66]

12) (Sc next 10, inc) - 6X     [total 72]

13) (Sc next 6, inc, sc next 5) - 6X      [total 78]

**Note : measure the circumference of the head and divide that number by 3.14 and you will get the diameter of the hat. Refer to tutorial video for better understanding.

14) Do sc all around for few rows. Put the hat on and if it touches your ear, that is the length that you need. The last row, the sc, when it comes to the 2nd last stitch, do a chain 48, then go to the next stitch, which is the last stitch for the row and do a sc.

Brim

I had 78 stitches on the hat plus the chain 48 on row 14, that makes 126 stitches in total, for my case. I will divide it by 6.

1) (Sc next 20, inc) - 6X     [total 132]

2) Sc all around     [total 132]

3) (Sc next 21, inc) - 6X     [total 138]

4) Sc all around     [total 138]

5) (Sc next 22, inc) - 6X     [total 144]

6) Sc all around     [total 144]

7) (Sc next 23, inc)     [total 150]

8) Sc all around     [total 150]

9) (Sc next 24, inc) - 6X    [total 156]

10) Sc all around     [total 156]

11) (Sc next 25, inc) - 6X     [total 162]

12) Sc all around     [total 162]

Rectangle Piece For The Bow

Chain 7, do sc from the 2nd stitch from the hook onwards until the end of the row. Chain 1, turn the work and continue to do sc until the end of the row. Repeat until it is about 7 cm long. Refer to tutorial video on how to assemble the bow.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (dec)] - 6 sets,

Tiny Top Hat

This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi. Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece) 1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8] 2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16] 3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37] 5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only 6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48] 7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X After complete the top piece,
