God Of Prosperity

 Some called him God of Prosperity, others addressed him as God of Wealth. From where I am, he is known as Chai Shen Yeh Yeh. Since Chinese New Year is around the corner, I thought it would be great to make a cute Chai Shen Yeh Yeh and placed it around the house. It is quite an auspicious Feng Shui figure to have in one's house during the festival.

The crochet tutorial is easy to follow, even for beginners. I added quite a bit of details to my amigurumi, but if you think that it is quite a hassle, you can just make a basic one. One that is without the shoe and the belt, and the hat, maybe make a simple one instead, and of course the mustache and beard is optional too. 

Below is the written pattern :

 

Body (Red)

1) Magic ring. 8 sc     [total 8]

Side Of Hat (yellow)

1) Magic ring, 6sc     [total 6]

Shoe

1) Magic ring, 6sc     [total 6]

2) Inc - 6X     [total 12]

Belt

The front part, use red, chain 8, hdc next 7 starting from the 2nd stitch from hook. Use yellow and sc all around. Chain 40 or 35 in yellow and sew it on the robe with that front part, as a belt.


Sleeve (red)

1) Sc next 4, 3 sc in 1 stitch, sc next 3, inc     [total 12]

2) Sc all around     [total 12]

Mooncake

  Crochet moon cake. You will need cotton yarn, a 3 mm hook and some stuffing. The tutorial video :  Mooncake 1) Magic ring, 8 single crochet (sc) into ring 2) Work only on the front loop : [ 1 slip stitch (sl st), chain (ch) 6 ] 8 times. Get 8 petals. 3) Work only on the back loop : [ 1 sc, ch2 ] all around and sl st to the join the 1st stitch. 4) Ch 1, [ch2, 3 puff st to the ch2 space, ch 2, 1 sc to the next] 8 times. Sl st to join to the 1st st. 5) Ch 3, 1 sc on top of the sc in the previous row (skip all the puff st). Tiny Top Hat

 This Top Hat is tiny enough for my amigurumi. Preferable black in color but for tutorial video sake, I did a brown one too. I used cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. It is very easy to make.  The tutorial video : Top Hat 1) Magic ring with 6 single crochet (sc) into ring [total 6] 2) 2 sc in each, all around [total 12] 3) (Sc in next 3, 2 sc in next stitch) repeat all around [total 15] 4) Sc all around (only on back loop) [total 15] 5) - 8) Sc all around [total 15] 9) 2 sc in each stitch, all around the front loop only [total 30] You can cut yarn now, either you leave a long tail for sewing or weave in the tail.  Hope you make lovely hats for your amigurumi.
