Cochet Cow

This cow stands about 12 inches tall. I used cotton yarn, safety eyes and stuffing. Start by making the legs and work my way up. As for the patches on the body and face, it is a free flow thing. No fix rules. Change color as at when you like and the patches comes out more realistic rather make fix circular patches. The written pattern below will not indicate when I change color for the patches.

The tutorial video (there will be 3 parts, and this is part 1. The link to part 2 and 3 will in the description box of part 1 video once it is ready) :

Legs - start with a darker color for the base of the leg, make 2 legs

1) Make a magic ring and make 6 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 6]

2) Do 2 sc into each stitch  (inc)     [total 12]

3) (sc, inc) - repeat all around     [total 18]

4) (sc next 2, inc) - repeat all around     [total 24]

5) Sc all around, only on the back loop     [total 24]

6) - 10) Sc all around     [total 24]

Change to a lighter color

11) - 21) Sc all around     [total 24]

Fasten off the first leg and do a 2nd leg. Joint the legs together at row 22.

22) Chain 3 and attach to the 1st leg with a sc. Sc all around the leg. When you reach the chain 3, make sc across the chain 3. Sc all around the 2nd leg. When reach the chain 3, make sc across it. You will have sc on both side of the chain 3.      [total 54]

23) - 38) Sc all around     [total 54]

39) (Sc next 7, invisible decrease (dec)) - repeat all around     [total 48]

40) Sc all around     [total 48]

41) (Sc next 6, dec) - repeat all around     [total 42]

42) Sc all around     [total 42]

43) (Sc next 5, dec) - repeat all around     [total 36]

44) Sc all around     [total 36]

45) (Sc next 4, dec) - repeat all around     [total 30]

46) - 47) Sc all around     [total 30]

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Head

1) Make a magic ring and do 6 sc into the ring     [total 6]

2) Sc inc all around     [total 12]

3) (Sc, inc) - repeat all around     [total 18]

4) (Sc next 2, inc) - repeat all around     [total 24]

5) (Inc, sc next 3) - repeat all around     [total 30]

6) (Sc next 4, inc) - repeat all around     [total 36]

7) (Inc, sc next 5) - repeat all around     [total 42]

8) (Sc next 6, inc) - repeat all around     [total 48]

9) (Inc, sc next 7) - repeat all around     [total 54]

10) (Sc next 8, inc) - repeat all around     [total 60]

11) - 21) Sc all around      [total 60]

Add safety eyes around row 17 or 18 and about 10 stitches apart. I normally will add eye lashes and the white part of the eye after I had fasten the safety eyes and before I start stuffing the head.

22) (Sc next 8, dec) - repeat all around     [total 54]

23) (Sc next 7, dec) - repeat all around     [total 48]

24) (Sc next 6, dec) - repeat all around     [total 42]

26) (Sc next 4, dec) - repeat all around     [total 30]

Fasten off and add stuffing.

Snout - I used pink color

1) Start with a chain 10. Sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc next 7, 3 sc in the last stitch. now work on the opposite side of the foundation chain. Sc next 7. 2 sc in the last stitch.      [total 20]

2) 2 sc in the 1st stitch. sc next 7. 2 sc in each of the next 3 (which is the turning part). Sc next 7. 2 sc in each of the last 2 stitch.      [total 26]

3) 2 sc in the 1st stitch. Sc next 9. 2 sc in each of the next 4 ( the turning part). Sc next 9. 2 sc in each of the last 3 stitches.      [total 34]

4) - 7) Sc all around     [total 34]

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. I used a dark color yarn and sew 2 lines, one on each side to make it look like nostril. Then sew the snout centered between the eyes and add stuffing as you sew.

Ears - I use the patch color

1) Make a magic ring and do 8 sc into ring      [total 8]

2) - 3) Sc all around     [total 8]

4) (Sc, inc) - repeat all around     [total 12]

5) Sc all around     [total 12]

6) (Sc next 2, inc) - repeat all around     [total 16]

7) - 13) Sc all around     [total 16]

Fold the ear (pinch it flat) and sc across the ear, seal the ear. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Do not add stuffing.

Horns - I used the same dark color as the base of the leg

1) Make a magic ring and make 9 sc into the ring     [total 9]

2) - 7) Sc all around     [total 9]

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing. Add a bit of stuffing.

Arms - just like the leg, start with a darker color on the first few rows.

1) Make a magic ring and make 8 sc into the ring     [total 8]

2) Inc all around     [total 16]

3) Sc all around, only on the back loop     [total 16]

4) - 7) Sc all around     [total 16]

8) - 23) Change to a lighter color. Sc all around     [total16]

At the end of round 23, add stuffing only about half full and pinch the arms flat and sc across to seal it. Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.
