Crochet Mooncake

This is my second crochet mooncake. This pattern is different from my first crochet mooncake. I made two version. One with lace yarn and a 2 mm hook and another with cotton yarn and a 3 mm hook. The lace yarn mooncake is smaller than the cotton yarn mooncake due to the size of the yarn and hook yet both are equally lovely and look quite like the real thing.

The tutorial video :

Mooncake (make 2 - top piece and bottom piece)

1) Start with a magic ring. Make 8 single crochet (sc) into the ring     [total 8]

2) Make 2 sc into each stitch (inc)     [total 16]

3) (Sc, inc) - 8X only on the back loop     [total 24] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only

4) (Sc, inc, sc) - 8X     [total 37]

5) (Sc next 3, inc) - 8X  only on the back loop     [total 40] - If bottom piece, no need back loop only

6) (Sc next 2, inc, sc next 2) - 8X     [total 48]

7) (Sc, half double crochet (hdc) next 2, 2 double crochet (dc) in the same stitch, hdc next 2, sc, slip stitch) - 6X

After complete the top piece, continue to crochet the side. As for the bottom piece, cut the yarn now.

Flower pattern on top piece

Do this part first before continue to do the side. Now is to work on that 2 rows of front loop left on that top piece. Make a sc on one of the front loop on row 3. Chain 1 and move to row 5 and make 3 sc. Chain 1 and do a sc on the next stitch on row 3. Refer to tutorial video for better understanding.

The side of the mooncake

 1) Double crochet all around, only on the back loop     [total 54]

2) - 4) (Hdc, dc front post next 8) - 6X. Cut yarn and sew the bottom piece to the main piece. Add stuffing after sewing 3/4 way.

Peony Flower

This is a big flower compare to the other crochet flowers. You will need cotton yarn, wire and some flower making green tape. I also added a chop stick, or you can use any wood or metal, to hold the flower as it is quite heavy with so many petals and wire. I used 3 different colors for the whole flower. The tutorial video :   The Core Part (use yellow yarn) 1) Chain 9, do 3 single crochet (sc) in the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc in the next, slip stitch (ss) until the end, which you will have 6 ss all in. Chain 9 and repeat the whole thing, all in 8 sets. 2) Chain 10, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 7 ss. Make 9 sets. 3) Chain 11, 3 sc in the 2nd stitch from the hook. Sc in the next and ss in the following stitches until the end of the chain, all in 8 ss. Make 10 sets. 4) Chain 1, do sc on the next 27 stitches on the base. 5) Chain 1, turn the work, [sc in the next 2, do a 2 together (de...

Sponge Bob Square Bag

This is a tapestry bag. A simple square bag make using cotton yarn. In order to make the Sponge Bob look realistic,  I follow the color of a poster I found online. I can't remember the name of the blue or the yellow etc. Just use my eyes to see which blue matches the blue in the character.  The tutorial video :  The poster that I got from the internet look like this :  Abbreviation : G = green   W = white   R = red   M = Maroon   Bk = black   B = blue   P = pink   Y = yellow The blue that use on the side and the back panel is of a different blue from the above.  I start with a row of the other blue (a lighter blue). This blue row is a chain of 49. The whole bag is just single crochet. The 2nd row onwards is the Sponge Bob color, as in when to change to which color. The pattern below, my 1) is actually the 2nd row and the color I mention is from right to left, like how we crochet. The num...
