Checker Bag - Tunisian Stitch Pattern

This is a simple bag in checker pattern made using Tunisian stitch. I made two type. One with a flat flap and the other a 'v' pointed flap. Both using 2 different colour nylon thread of 1.5 mm and a hook of of 3 mm. You can customized your own checker bag so long you understand the basic of making one box. Like puzzle, you connect those boxes to form a bag of your choice. The tutorial video : Each small box you will need 11 stitches as the foundation chain. Once you have decide how many boxes you need, use multiple of 11 and plus 1 stitch for your foundation chain. The smaller bag as per the video, I did 4 boxes on the first row so I did 4 times 11 which is 44 stitches plus 1 stitch, so all in, I did 45 stitches on my foundation chain. Insert hook into the 2nd chain from hook, yarn over and pull a loop through leaving it on the hook and continue to do the same on the next 5 chain, in which all in, you will get 7 chain on your hook but we put through 6 chain. Now yarn over, pul

A Pot Of Carnation

I had assemble all 3 carnation flowers into the pot by connecting all the flowers to a small flat round piece of crochet, that look like a mini mat, which has the same pattern as the bottom of the pot. Makes it look like I had 3 carnations in soil, in a pot. Just in time for Mother's Day.  Here is the tutorial video. Round Pot (can use either 5 mm hook or 4 mm hook) 1) magic ring, 6 single crochet (sc) in it (6 stitches) 2) 2 sc (increase) in each (12 stitches) 3) [sc, inc] repeat all around (18 stitches) 4) [inc, sc in next 2] repeat all around (24 stitches) 5) [sc in next 3, inc] repeat all around (30 stitches) 6) [inc, sc in next 4] repeat all around (36 stitches) 7) [sc in next 5, inc] repeat all aound (42 stitches) 8) [inc, sc in next 6] repeat all around (48 stitches) 9) ch 2, double crochet (dc) in each, all around - only on the front loop 10) - 11) ch 2, do 4 front post follow by 4 back post, repeat all around 12) - 13) ch 2, do 4 back post follow by 4 front post, repeat a

Carnation Flower - No glue, no wire

Since Mother's Day is just around the corner, I thought why not crochet some flowers. This carnation is make using 5 ply yarn and 2.5 mm hook. It is very easy to make and I choose not to use glue or wire. Glue sometime can be messy if we are not careful. You can still glue the sepal on to the flower, if you wish. And if you are going to add wire, make sure you add the wire first before apply glue. Here is the tutorial video : Flower. 1) make a magic ring, chain (ch) 3, double crochet (dc) 15 into the ring and joint with slip stitch. 2) ch 3, 2 dc in each stitch for the next 15 stitches and joint with a slip stitch. 3) ch4, 3 triple crochet in each stitch and joint with a slip stitch. 4) ch4, joint to the next stitch with a slip stitch, continue the pattern till the end. 5) put thru a separate yarn onto the 2nd row, with a needle, sew it loosely between 2 dc on the 2nd row and later pull tight to form the flower.  Sepal. 1) make a magic ring, ch1, 6 sc and end with a slip stitch. 2

Crossbody Bag - with t-shirt yarn

Crossbody bag, the pattern is lovely. Always reminds me of 'Batik'. It is super easy to make and you can complete it in no time, unless of course if you are a beginner. This is also beginner friendly. My video will guide you step-by-step all the way until you get a lovely bag.  This is the tutorial video that I made : You would need t-shirt yarn and a 8 mm hook. We start by leaving about 1.5 meter of yarn tail for sewing later. Make a knot and chain 23. We are going to make a decrease (2 together) at one end and an increase (2 single crochet in one) in the other end.  After the chain 23 we will start by making an increase on the 2nd chain from hook. Follow by 19 single crochet (sc). At the end of that row we will make a 2 together on the remaining last 2 chain. After that we chain 1, turn, skip one and do a decrease (2 together). Continue to sc in the next 19 stitches and at the end we do an increase (2 sc in 1). Chain 1, turn, skip one, do an increase follow by sc in the next

Ketupat Plush Toy / Decoration (Tunisian Stitch)

This decorative Ketupat is crochet with 5 ply yarn and 4 mm hook using the Tunisian stitches. The lines of the Tunisian stitch makes it look more like a real Ketupat that was weaved with leaves. The one I made was as big as my palm and if you wish to make a smaller one, use 3 ply yarn and smaller hook.  Here is the tutorial video : We start by crocheting the lighter colour yarn for box 1. Chain 7, 2nd chain from hook, we yarn over and leave yarn on hook and do the same to all the 7 chain. The last one on the hook we yarn over and put thru 1 yarn, then put thru 2, and 2 and 2 until the end of the line.  On row 2, we put hook thru the vertical line from row 1, yarn over and leave yarn on hook. Continue until the end of the row. The last one, we yarn over and put thru 1, then put thru 2, and 2 and 2 until you have completed the whole row. Continue in the same manner for 5 rows, all in. After the 5th row, we put hook thru the vertical line on the row below it and do a slip stitch this tim

Customized Crochet Backpack using t-shirt yarn

Backpack never go out of fashion. Everyday you are bound to bump into someone with a backpack. Let's handmade one with t-shirt yarn. It is easy to make one and there are loads of accessories that you can add to it.  This is the tutorial video for your viewing.  I used a board for the base. You can easily buy one online. In the tutorial, I bought an oval shaped base with 52 holes. You would need 2 type of hook. One that can fit in the hole of the board and one 8 mm hook for crocheting the top part. Start by leaving a (tail) yarn of about a meter long. Then start by crocheting to the board base with single crochet (sc). Single crochet 51 holes and the last one crochet with the shorter yarn, the 1 meter yarn that we leave before starting. Use the shorter yarn to complete the 52th single crochet (refer video). Row 2 onwards we crochet with the 8 mm hook, single crochet to the back loop, all around. Each row we single crochet 51 and change to the shorter yarn at 52th stitch to complete.

Simple Dinner Bag

This simple dinner bag is made using a 4 mm hook and a 3 mm polypropylene yarn. These type of yarn is suitable for bags. As for the bag accessories, there are plenty to choose from. It is big enough to place your handphone and stuffs but not too big.  I started with chain 20, chain 1 more, sl stitch onto the 2nd chain from hook, do a half double crochet and a slip stitch and a half double crochet and a slip stitch - continue this pattern till the end of the line. Will always start with a slip stitch and end with a half double crochet at the end of the line. Once I get my desired length, do single crochet all around the sides. At each corner do 2 single crochet in one.  As for the sides, I chain 6, chain 1 more, slip stitch to the 2nd chain from hook and repeat the above pattern. Do single crochet all around the side and remember to put 2 single crochet at the corners. Here is the tutorial video :  Thank you for watching and don't forget to subscribe to my  Youtube  channel.
